Salehoo Scam–Is it Sam the Sham the Scam Man or What?

The question continues, “Is Salehoo a scam?

I think one of the reason there is so much confusion regarding this issue, is that there are many misinformed people spreading wrong information.  For example, take this excerpt from Amanda Barnes’ article, Salehoo Review – Cash In On The Drop Shipping Industry,

Salehoo is a wholesale drop shipping service that actually connects you to reputable suppliers to find products that you can list on auction sites such as Ebay or your own website and then will ship those products directly to your buyer once they have sold, leaving you with a nice profit. It is an absolutely wonderful service with one of the lowest sign-up fees in the industry. For a lifetime membership of $67, they are one of the most cost effective and consistently reliable e-commerce resources on the internet. They consistently update their supplier lists and makes sure that they stay consistent and competitive.

Please pay attention:  Salehoo is not a wholesale dropshipping service.  Salehoo is service that provides you with contact information for many different kinds of product distributors.  If you purchase the Salehoo membership thinking that it is a wholesale source or a dropshipping service, you might very well think that Salehoo is a scam.  Salehoo provides essentiall two services:

  • a list of product sources with contact information
  • an active forum where you can network with other members

Even though Ms. Barnes and I both share a very positive view of Salehoo, it pains me to point out that Ms. Barnes is contributing to the misinformation and confusion regarding the Salehoo scam question.   A dropship service and a directory of product distributors are as much alike as apples and elephants.

I shouldn’t pick on Ms. Barnes as she has most of it right.  Salehoo is a legitimate wholesale directory and forum and can be a tool to help you find the products you are seeking.  It can also help you find dropshippers, though it is important to understand that not all of the businesses listed on Salehoo are wholesalers and dropshippers.  Many are, but you still need to use your common sense when you do business with any of the companies listed.  Salehoo tries to check up on the companies, but it isn’t perfect and doesn’t claim to be perfect.  You can always ask questions on the forum.  In general, you have to use common sense and take responsibility for your actions and the consequences of your actions just as you would in any other area of your life.

But ok, enought said.  If you’d like more information, check out:

  1. I definitely agree that a person has to “use common sense and take responsibility.” All too often people find themselves feeling scammed because they simply failed to do a little research or ask a few questions. When the product they purchase isn’t what they expected it is often their own fault.

  2. Kelly,

Hi. Thank you for your comment. You are so right! Using common sense is very important. Many people do feel scammed for just that reason–failing to ask questions or simply taking the time to read the sales page, or terms of service.
