The Salehoo Scam Question

Is Salehoo a scam?  Can I make money using Salehoo?  And, what is the difference between Doba, Salehoo, and profitbig.com?  These are questions that people just like you and me are asking everyday and searching the Internet for answers to.  One desparate soul wanted to know what his alternatives were.  “If I don’t join Salehoo,” he asked, “where can I find wholesale and dropshippers?”

Underlying these questions, I sense a profound desire for financial betterment and independance.  Naturally, you may be worried that Salehoo is a scam playing upon your desire for a better life.  People are striking out and trying to take matters into their own hands–your own hands–by learning how and where to find wholesale goods and how to market them profitably.  Wholesale distributors and  dropship wholesalers can play an important role in this plan.  Knowing how and where to find low cost goods, closeout and liquidation inventory, and honest suppliers is a vital element to success.

Can Salehoo and other sites similar to Salehoo help solve your product sourcing questions, and will you make money using Salehoo?  Or is it a pipe dream?  Is Salehoo really just another common scam?

For starters, it is important to know what Salehoo is and what it isn’t.  Salehoo is primarily a directory of wholesale distributors, dropship wholesale suppliers, liquidation and closeout businesses, other product distributors, and a forum.  The forum, in my opinion, may be its strongest feature.  This is because many people, both buyers and sellers of goods, participate, and everyone shares product information and opinions about the integrity and usefulness of suppliers.  Salehoo also claims to check out each of the it lists and requires suppliers to apply for permission to be listed.  Salehoo members are allowed to rate the directory sources, discuss them on the forum, and even complain about them to management.  I have personally seen Salehoo delist suppliers that it felt were unreliable.

Just to summarize a bit, Salehoo basically provides contact information to suppliers.  That is, it provides the leads and the wherewithall to find out about product distributors.  Many of the sources are wholesalers and dropshippers.  Not all of the sources are wholesale businesses or dropshippers.  There are other kinds of businesses that sell lowcost goods that do not fall into the category of either wholesaler or dropshipper.  It is important to keep in mind that Salehoo is not a supplier itself and does not stock inventory to sell.  If you find a source, it is ultimately up to you to decide whether or not you want to do business with it.  However, let’s say you do find a number of sources that look promising.  You can then go to the forum and ask questions about the listings to other forum members.  A little proactive caution will help you avoid mistakes that might in turn cause you feel that you have been scammed.

Can you make money using Salehoo?  That is a tough question, because ultimately, it is up to you to answer.  Whether or not you make money using Salehoo depends a lot on whether you have done your research to identify a market need and the products to satisfy that need.  The answer to the question of making money using Salehoo depends a lot on whether you have thought through a plan on how to sell and profit from  your products.  These are things that Salehoo can not do for you.  I think that some people who make the mistake of believing that Salehoo membership alone will make them money may come to feel that Salehoo is a scam.

To be honest and blunt, in my opinion Salehoo can no more make you money than a phonebook can.  A phonebook, just like Salehoo, is a vast list of resources with contact information.  The phonebook doesn’t sell goods, it just shows you some contact possibilites.  Does that make it a scam?  No, not to my way of thinking.  But if you mistakenly thought that the phonebook were somehow responsible for you making money, then you might very well come to think that it’s a scam.  But, can Salehoo show you wholesale and/or other low cost product distributors where you can buy products to sell at a profit?  In my opinion, absolutely.

How is Salehoo different from Doba and profitbig.com?  I want to give a longer answer to this in another post, but the short answer is simply that Doba and profitbig are product distributors.  Salehoo is merely a directory of product soruces and also a forum.  Both Doba and profitbig.com are dropship distributors.  And, by the way, neither one is a true wholesaler.  Even though they may talk about wholesale prices, neither one is real wholesaler.  Does that make them scams?  No.  But it is important to understand that a true wholesaler will always require proof of a sales tax permit, and that, too, is a subject for anothe post.
